In this Music the World was begun;
For Ilúvatar made visible the song of the Ainur,
Which they beheld as a light in the darkness.

Sina Lindalello Ilúves yesserya;
an Ilúvatar sinë Ainuron lindalen annë canta cénina
ar cennentes vë calma morniessë.

Many among them became enamored of its beauty,
By its history which they saw beginning,
Unfolding as if in a vision.

Ento nótimë tellon emélier vanimië
ar lúmequentaleryá ya cennentë yestala
ar palyala vë oloressë.

Therefore Ilúvatar gave to their vision Being,
Set it amidst the Void; and the Secret Fire
Was sent to burn at the heart of the World;
And it was named Eä (the World that Is).
